01 Quality Inspection
Installation Quality Inspection
🔍 Surface Inspection
- Tight Attachment: Ensure the rockshield mesh is tightly attached to the pipeline surface, with no lifted edges, wrinkles, or bulges.
- Flat Overlaps: Overlap areas must be completely flat and firm to prevent soil from entering between layers.
- No Loosening: Check all fixation points to confirm there is no loosening or displacement of the mesh.
🛡️ Integrity Inspection
- Continuous Coverage: The entire pipeline surface must be continuously covered, leaving no gaps or exposed areas.
- Fixing Safety: Ends of fixing straps or wires must be tightened and neatly handled, with no sharp points that could damage the coating.
- Overlap Width: Verify that all axial and circumferential overlaps meet the minimum requirement of ≥ 10 cm.
📋 Re-inspection
Before backfilling, assign professional personnel to perform a final re-check of the entire wrapping length to ensure zero omissions.
⏳ Backfill ASAP
Once installation and inspection are completed, proceed immediately to backfilling to avoid long-term UV or environment exposure.
🧱 Cushion Placement
If required, place 10–15 cm of fine sand or soil at the bottom and both sides of the pipeline as a protective cushion layer.
02 Backfilling & Precautions
Step 1: Site Preparation
- Trench Check: Ensure the bottom is level and free of sharp stones. If necessary, lay 10-15cm of fine sand/soft soil.
- Coating Inspection: Ensure pipeline anticorrosion coating is intact; repair any defects before proceeding.
- Mesh Inspection: Confirm full coverage with no gaps or loose edges. Overlap at joints must be firm (≥ 10cm).
Step 2: Initial Backfill (Cover Layer)
- Material: Use only fine soil or sand within 30cm of the pipeline. Strictly no large stones or debris.
- Method: Place 15-20cm thick layers evenly on both sides.
- Compaction: Compact gently using manual tools or light machinery only.
- Purpose: This layer acts as a "cushion" to protect the rockshield mesh and pipeline.
Step 3: Layered Backfill & Finalization
- Operation: Backfill in layers of 20-30cm. Original soil may be used if stones >50mm are removed.
- Symmetry: Backfill both sides simultaneously to keep the pipeline centered and prevent displacement.
- Top Layer: The final 0.3-0.5m can use site soil. For vehicle areas, achieve 90%-95% compaction (Standard Proctor).
- Restoration: In farmland or green areas, reserve original topsoil for vegetation restoration.
⚠️ Special Precautions
• No Stone Throwing: Large rocks or hard soil blocks must never be thrown directly onto the pipeline.
• Rainy Season: Ensure proper drainage to prevent excessive soil moisture, which leads to poor compaction.
• Inspection: Check trench density and surface settlement after backfilling. Refill if necessary.
• Markers: Install pipeline marker posts on the surface to clearly indicate alignment.
